What to you if you herniated a disc in a Memphis car wreck? part I.

That’s the question that you want to know the answer to if you were in a car wreck which caused a herniated or bulging disc. And that’s exactly the question that my wife asked me a few weeks ago when we found out that she had a herniated disc between her C5-C6 cervical vertebrae.

You see, Katie had been involved in a car wreck on I-240 here in Memphis, TN back in April and injured her neck pretty badly. She had originally visited an orthopedic specialist and gone through many weeks of physical therapy in attempts to alleviate the severe pain she was feeling in her neck. Unfortunately none of the treatments were helping.

We had been hoping that her injuries would end up to only be minor. But when no treatments helped, it was time to get an MRI on her neck to see if there was something more serious than just muscle strain and nerve damage. The results of the MRI brought the dreaded news that it was indeed more severe, a herniated cervical disc (also commonly called ruptured disks, slipped disks or disk protrusions).

A lot of my clients here in Memphis have endured this same diagnosis. No matter if you have a herniated in the lumbar area or a herniated disc in the cervical area, it’s painful.  And now my wife was the person feeling this pain and suffering the consequences of having someone hit her from behind in a car accident. So we needed to to make sure to take the right steps to help her get the treatment she needed. But what exactly where those steps?

In my next post I’ll walk you step-by-step through the process of what to do if you’re suffering really bad neck or back pain. And I’ll show you exactly what I did for my own wife who was hit from behind in a car accident here in Memphis, TN.
